The bible tells us that we should “not forsake the assembling of ourselves together as is the manner of some” Heb10v25, this means that you need to be in a Church or Christian Fellowship. Do not get involved in the cults that will try to control you. You need a Church or Christian Fellowship that actually believes the bible and teaches from it, that loves you and is there for you in your time of need. A Church or Christian Fellowship that can identify with the gospel that I have preached. One that includes repentance, salvation through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, believing in who He is, “God the Son” and in what He has done on the cross, and believing in an actual physical resurrection. The Church or Christian Fellowship you join needs to believe in having a personal relationship with God. Lastly, the Church or Christian Fellowship needs to be responsibly moving in the power of the Holy Spirit and able to baptise you in the Holy Spirit when you feel ready. I will deal with this at greater depth later.
You need to find a Church with the same vision that you have. If this proves a tall order then you may find yourself progressing through a number of Churches or Christian Fellowships each helping you in a particular stage of your Christian development before being moved on to the next stage. It is good to stay on good terms with those who have helped you, even if you feel God is calling you on, remember that they have helped you previously. You cannot go higher than the pastor or minister of that Church and they cannot give to you what they do not have spiritually. If you have to move on, do so gracefully. Do not expect any Church or Christian Fellowship to be perfect, it will not be, for the perfect has not yet come, we are all a work in progress, try to bear this in mind.
Beware of the excesses of what has become known as the Prosperity Gospel where there is far too much emphasis on giving to receive. We should give and give generously, but we do need to look carefully at our motives for giving, if it is to receive the same or more again. One thing is certain we will not be able to out give God. I do not believe that God is against wealth which is relative to what a person has. For example someone who earns £7.00 a day is going to think someone who earns £7.00 an hour wealthy, whilst the person earning £7.00 an hour is going to think the person on £250.00 a day wealthy, and so on all the way up the scale. There must come a point when James5 v1to 6 cuts in. For me Mat 6v33 is pivotal in all this “but seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be added to you”. However Jesus says “ no one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon” Mat6v24. St Paul says in 1 Tim6v17 “Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor to trust in uncertain riches but in the Living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy” and on to verse 19.
